Job Description
Position: General Manager
Location: Miami, Fla.
Supervisor: Regional Vice President
Summary: The GM will lead the intermodal business unit. Delivering enhanced business unit profitability while conforming to the companys core values will be the primary indicator of success.
Responsibilities:
The GM develops and implements commercial strategy (markets, prices, customers, products), which will include setting and delivering appropriate service levels and identifying and capturing targeted customers and markets. The GM also manages asset utilization, business unit expenses, and business unit staff members and contractors. Thus, by making appropriate adjustments to revenues and expenses, the GM will enhance unit profitability.
The company prizes safety. As such, the GM will be the de facto chief safety officer for the intermodal enterprise.
In collaboration with senior management, the GM will develop and implement the companys strategic vision for intermodal, will work with port officials to develop mutually beneficial opportunities that advance service offerings and achieve industry leading results, and will establish constructive relationships with public officials that enhance intermodal business opportunities.
Qualifications:
The GM of the intermodal business unit must have a background in service-business operations, marketing, sales and general management. The ideal candidate will have had full P&L responsibility of $100M or shared responsibility for a larger enterprise; will be an excellent problem-solver with top-notch communication and presentation skills; and will have demonstrated the ability to select, train and develop talent and provide performance feedback in a non-threatening and timely manner.
The company prefers a candidate with in-depth knowledge of highway or intermodal
transportation
concepts, markets, operations, networks, equipment, maintenance, and practices along with a bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. An MBA is highly desirable.
