Job Description
Client is $1 billion plus company making products for both retail and industrial markets. This is the main Distribution Center (125 empl) for one of their largest divisions. The company is transforming to a lean business model, and while the various manufacturing organizations are well along the path, litttle attention has been paid to distribution and downstream supply chain.
Purpose of Position
Dual role, reporting to the VP Supply Chain....responsible for the DCs operation team, a small site in Canada, 3rd party packaging and also serves as site leader for lean deployment. Responsible for the entire daily operation of Order Release, Distribution, Packaging, and Shipping departments within the Distribution Center. Direct reports in engineering, quality, safety, purchasing. Directs individual department activities within framework of the organizations overall strategic plans and objectives. The basic function is to coach and support the distribution, packaging and material flow, as well as the order release team in Lean philosophy and practice. Will use Lean tools to meet the Distribution Policy Deployment goals of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Uses technical knowledge and people skills to keep associates motivated and positive as they meet the challenges of a changing schedule.
